Expert session bio-based building materials in practice
Kick-off living lab earth blocks (Leemsteen)
On the 1st of June, Living Lab Leemsteen - Earth Blocks in English - (UHasselt, a2o-architects, Buildwise, Democo, BC materials, BrickZ) and Boost Bouw Limburg (Embuild Limburg, POM Limburg) organised an expert session on the application of bio-based building materials in practice. Simultaneously, the starting shot was also fired for the VLAIO Living Lab Earth Blocks "From earth to value".
More than 100 interested participants were introduced to earth blocks during the event. The mock-ups were used to survey user preferences and perceptions of the participants.
During the event, inspiring lectures were given by Mieke Vandenbroucke (CERAA), Ilse Claes (UHasselt, Embuild), Ken de Cooman (BC Materials), Elke Knapen (UHasselt), Martha Vandermaesen (Democo) and Michel Janssens (a2o-architects).
The event also served as a platform for networking. Participants had the opportunity to exchange their ideas and knowledge with each other.
